I thought I had been kicked out of 10C for lack of activity, because Macchiato didn't let me post or see the timeline. Turns out, a logout/login fixed everything! Whew. :-)

@peemee My 2009 MacBook Pro has never let me down all these years. The original 320 GB HD failed around 2013, replaced by a 500 GB HD. Last year I finally decided to remove the dead DVD drive and install a 240 GB SSD via an OWC Data doubler. But sadly in the past days it has been acting up in ways that concern me.
// @matigo @indigo
@matigo I could use it in desktop configuration with my UK-layout Apple Pro Keyboard, but I could probably afford the shipping costs only, anyway.
@matigo I need this machine to last me at least two more months. I was thinking about asking people on social media if anyone has an old Intel MacBook (2008-2009 vintage is enough) to lend me for a while…
@matigo The fans will start, at full speed, randomly and for random intervals. I’ve reset the SMC various times, but it doesn’t appear it did much to solve the issue. It’s likely that a thermal sensor (or more than one) is failing. The timing couldn’t be worse, as I have to upgrade various devices and I’m utterly broke.
I've been dreadfully absent here lately, and I apologise. But I'm swamped with work and my old MacBook Pro has decided to start acting up at the same time. Lucky me, as usual. :-(
